Floral Design by Jacqueline Franklin
Jacqueline Franklin established Hope and Glory in 2018 after working as a florist for nearly 20 years She is passionate about floristry and hoped to create and share flower arrangements that showcased the best of British flowers, along with being a British flower grower and member of Flowers from The Farm, she is also an award winning florist winning 2 Gold medals at BBC GWLive.
She hoped to show that flowers did not have to be flown in from overseas to create vibrant, eye-catching or evocative arrangements using eco methods and natural materials.
She hoped to reduce the environmental impact of flower arranging (anybody who has worked in the flower industry will be familiar with the magical, green, water-absorbing blocks that have been widely used to create flower arrangements since they were developed in the 1950s by Smithers-Oasis) along with reducing the chemicals used within the floristry business.
Full of hope that things would be better, the name of her new business started to write itself. And what could sound more British than the music of Elgar? Borrowing from one of his most iconic pieces of music, Hope and Glory was born.
Jacqui’s mother, Lilian, had been the Post-Mistress in Tysoe, an attractive village on the edge of the Cotswolds since 1977 She worked hard to keep the Post Office open at a time when many villages were losing important local postal services.
As the Post Office has branched into new services to remain viable, so to have local branches had to find new sources of revenue to stay open. It seemed the obvious choice for Jacqui to locate her florist business in the same premises as her mother’s Post Office, providing it with the opportunity to extend its retail activities.
Jacqui took on the Business when Lilian suddenly passed away in September 2019 after running the business for 42 years. She is working hard to ensure that Hope and Glory becomes an important part of the community, ensuring that the Post Office stays open and keeping Lillian’s memory alive.
It is the start of a new chapter in the story of Hope and Glory.
We hope that you can be a part of it.
